How do I protect myself from card transaction fraud?
❶⠀Don't follow up on requests to update your card details in a link that comes in an email. We will never request such card data updates. Requests come from people who collect this data and use it to fraudulently steal money from your card 😇
❷⠀Report us as soon as you notice that your card is missing, lost or stolen to our 24-hour Call Center at 0264 594 337* - for any mobile or overseas networks 😲
❸⠀Request us or configure it yourself from the application BT Visual Helpby calling 0264 308 000, BT24 Internet & Mobile Banking or from BT Pay daily transaction limits on the internet and at the POS or ATM that help limit the amount withdrawn from your card if it is used without your consent 🤓
❹⠀Check your bank statement regularly for any amounts that you have not authorised, possibly asking us to activate theservice SMS Alert to keep you constantly informed of transactions made with your card; 🕵
❺⠀When shopping online, try to choose only merchants enrolled in the Mastercard ID Check service; 🧐
❻⠀If you have any questions about your card, you can block it very quickly. I explained how you can do this in the question "I lost my card. What's the first thing I need to do?" . 😉
Other general recommendations:
➤⠀first do not keep your PIN in a form easily recognizable to others (written down on a card, phone, on a piece of paper, in a notebook, etc.); 😬
➤⠀change your PIN for free at any BT ATM with one you remember easily (preferably different from the combination of digits in your date of birth); 😅
➤⠀take care when entering your PIN at an ATM or at a POS it is not seen by other people around you 👀
➤⠀don't lend your card to anyone and don't give your card details to anyone. 🙅
