What are alternative investment funds?

Alternative investment funds (AIFs) arecollective investment vehicles thatdo not fall within the classic category of undertakings for collective investment in transferable securities (UCITS). In other words, they are funds that invest in less traditional assets or use different strategies than regular funds.

According to the European definition, AIFs includeall investment funds that are not UCITS.
