What happens when my Direct card is blocked?
The blocked amount on your card is a reserved amount, which you pay from your BT Direct account for various transactions.
The maximum settlement period for transactions made at other banks' terminals is 30 days. This means that within this period, the transaction will be automatically settled and will disappear from the 'Blocked amount' section and will be debited from your account. 🙂
Blocked amounts can come from several sources:
➤⠀ installment payments made with your credit card, where the amount decreases monthly as the installments are discharged;
➤⠀card transactions made at other banks' terminals, whether an ATM transaction, a payment at a merchant's POS, or over the Internet.
Blocked amounts from card transactions are the amounts reserved when you make a transaction at another bank's terminal, whether it is an ATM transaction, a payment at the merchant's POS or on the Internet. 🌐
Blocking the amount is a guarantee that the bank will receive the money you have withdrawn, i.e. that a merchant will receive their money for the goods/services they offer.
