ONLY FOR BT CUSTOMERS
What is the customer code (BT's CIF)?
The customer code or CIF is the unique identification number of a customer at a commercial bank. Basically, every customer has such a 7-character code obtained from the IBAN of the current account.
If you don't know what your current account IBAN is, here are details of how to find out.
Let's take two hypothetical examples and see how you can extract your customer code (BT's CIF) from your IBAN.
➤⠀If your IBAN ends in the letters "XX", we will take as an example IBAN: RO32BTRL56201931N98886XX.
In this case, the customer code (BT's VAT number) consists of the digit 0 plus the last 6 characters before the letters "XX" read from left to right (in our case this is N98886). Thus, the customer code (BT's CIF) for the IBAN taken as an example is: 0N98886.
➤⠀If your IBAN does not end in the letters "XX", but ends in numbers, consider as an example the IBAN: RO10BTRLRONCRT0987654271.
In this case, the customer code (BT's CIF) consists of the digit 9 (this is different depending on your IBAN because the ninth digit is taken into account, counted from right to left from the end of the IBAN). According to the example, after counting, the figure is 9. To this is added the next 6 digits, read from left to right, after the figure obtained previously, in this case 876542.
Therefore, in the case of the IBAN taken as an example, the customer code (BT's CIF) is: 9876542.
We hope we've managed to enlighten you! 😅
